Beach Rules

  • Dogs PROHIBITED June-September under POOC regulations.
  • October to May: dogs welcome on this non-concessioned beach.
  • Owners must clean up after their dogs — bring your own bags and carry out all waste.
  • Dogs must have a microchip and be registered; carry your DIAC or pet passport.
  • Potentially dangerous breeds must wear a muzzle and be on a leash no longer than 1 metre.

  • 🐾IMPORTANT: Dogs are PROHIBITED June-September. Visit October to May only.
  • 🐾The walk from Praia de Faro is 1.5-7 km depending on your route — plan accordingly.
  • 🐾The long walk filters out crowds — expect near-total solitude at the beach.
  • 🐾Bring all supplies including water for your dog — there is nothing available once you leave Praia de Faro.
  • 🐾The lagoon side has calm, warm water for dog paddling; the ocean side has Atlantic surf.
