Year-round on this non-concessioned, unsupervised beach. Dogs are welcome at all times. The beach is extremely remote with no enforcement presence.

Beach Rules

●Non-concessioned beach: dogs are permitted year-round under Portuguese law.
●Dogs must be on a leash or, if off-leash, must wear a muzzle (Portuguese national law).
●Potentially dangerous breeds must always wear a muzzle and be on a short leash.
●Owners must clean up after their dogs.
●Dogs must be microchipped and registered; carry your pet passport or DIAC.
●This is within the Costa Vicentina Natural Park — respect wildlife and vegetation.

Local Tips

🐾A 4x4 is recommended for the 6 km of dirt roads, but careful drivers in regular cars can make it in dry conditions.
🐾The access roads are unsigned — use GPS coordinates to navigate (37.0667, -8.9667).
🐾Bring all supplies including plenty of fresh water for both you and your dog; there is nothing here.
🐾The cliff descent is moderate difficulty — this is not ideal for elderly or mobility-impaired dogs.
🐾The red sandstone cliff at sunset is spectacular — time your visit for golden hour if you can.
🐾Waves and currents are powerful; keep dogs away from deep water, especially during swell.
